Has anyone researched an alternative to the Yamaha 9.9 or 8 hp high thrust motors? Is the original 9.9 a 25 inch shaft?

it comes down to the Yamaha 9.9 or the Merc bigfoot and the merc was the distant second.

Honda BF15 was the distant second. Merc didn't make the first cut! Remember; we need the engine to put out its best power at less than 9 knots, not over 15 knots.

oops my mistake. Merc, Honda; what's the difference?
