Dometic frig troubleshooting.

The info in the owners manual was quite limited, past posts seem limited to other types, so I throw myself upon mercy of the group.
Does not run on 12v or 120v.
Runs on propane
* lightS easily
* sometimes gets fairly cold and makes ice
* And sometimes not.
They are quite pricey to replace and getting them out seem like torture, so I am up for surgery, if there are suggestions. Or is it operator error?
There is, of course, the option of considering it to be a big, inefficient ice box for the present time.
