Please share your favorite places (online or otherwise) to purchase spare parts for your Yamahas.
Also, I would be interested to know what specific parts people here recommend be carried for Caribbean cruising.
Thanks,
Mike

Boats.net for the parts.
Full kit of electrical - coils, CDI, regulator
Spare Carb
Plugs
Starter and solenoid
Oil pressure switch
Prop and prop fairing ring (a couple for when the engine pops up in reverse)
Water pump kit
Fuel pump kit
Not a cheap list but that's everything I've seen fail.
Hmm Maybe a spare engine?

Thanks Tom. I definitely don't have room for a spare engine, unless I replace my little 4 hp dinghy outboard with a 9.9.

Re: Spare Yamaha parts - favorite online retailer?
I actually considered putting a short shaft lower unit on a 9.9 and removing the spacer on the intermediate housing. I'm not sure about the weight on the back of the dinghy though.
Another thought about carrying a spare engine would be to just carry a lower unit and a power head. Any problems you pull into an anchorage lift the engine and swap the power head or lower unit and put it back in.
I was also thinking of storing a spare engine inthe starboard bow on top of the black water tank. 100 pounds of engine would equal about 12 gallons of poo ("g" rated) if I made sure to empty the tank at half full...? Maybe store with the lower unit removed and no oil in it for ease?
Of course I could always just do what others do and buy new engines and not worry about it.

I used Boats.net in Central Florida and found the staff helpful and the prices very good
