Deck wash down system for 36

I am thinking of adding a deck washdown system. I think I will plumb it to the
fresh water system, since I will be installing a water maker and therefore fresh
water will be readily available. The plan is to run a hose up the back of the
closet in the SB forward cabin, and simply pop a tap through the bulk head into
the anchor locker. Then I can arrange to hang a hose in the locker

I'd like to know what the factory installed deck wash down arrangement is
though. Does the factory install a flush deck wash connection into the deck so
that it is accessible without opening the locker or is there a spigot in the
locker?
Also any comments from those with more experience in respect to the fresh water
vs. salt would be appreciated. Am I making a mistake?
Thanks folks.

The factory installed my thru hull in the starboard bilge just forward of the
door to the cabin. I installed the hoses and pumps as Roger did but have a 4
inch PVC pipe with a 50 ft coiled hose that I placed in the Starboard anchor
locker. It seems to be more convenient to have the washdown near the windlass
since that is the primary use. The PVC pipe makes it easy to access and store
the coiled hose.

In my case (36080) the factory has a thru-hull below the starboard hanging
locker. The plumbing goes forward into the starboard anchor locker where the
pump is located on the rear/aft wall. The hose then goes across into the small
center-line deck locker where the spigot is located. I would choose a high
volume pump such as the Grocco wash down pump to get adequate pressure.

I put in the Hosecoil on my 32 - see this link or search for "hosecoil" on a search engine.

I put it vertical into the step in the cockput, and I crawled into the back locker and used a T to plumb it into the cold water going to the shower on the back steps. Works great!
