RIB for PDQ 36

My wife and I are about to order a Capella and plan to get a RIB. Does anyone know the max

size that fits between the hulls?

I have an Avon 10'2" RIB aboard. It fits snugly, with some scuffing and minor gel coat

damage if I am not careful raising it. But, I find it worthwhile to have a 10' dink. If you

removed the motor prior to raising the dink you would avoid the damage, but as I raise the

dink every night I chose not to.

I have an AB 2.90VL. It is about 9ft 6 in and weighs 110 lbs. It cost $2300 at the Annapolis boat show. It fits perfectly with the engine. I use a Yamaha 8HP 2 cycle that weighs 62 lbs. It will plane with my wife and I aboard but if I had to do it again I would et a 15 HP. The extra HP would come in handy when both of us are in the dingy and we have to carry a couple jugs of water or fuel. I also added a 6 part block and tackle on the stern end of the dingy davits. It is much easier to lift now.

I have a 10' Caribe RIB and had the same "snug fit/scuffing problem. I found that if you hoist the rib so that it's bow is on the starboard side of the PDQ, and then deflate the air chamber on the rear port side of the rib, it fits exceptionally well, plus no scuffing. You don't have to completely deflate the chamber, but rather deflate it enough so that it's mushy. Re-inflating takeas about 1 minute. ESE
