I'm probably the last person on the planet to learn about this, but in case I'm only the next to last, here's some information that might be of interest...
If you'd like to access the internet from your boat via your cell phone, Radio Shack sells software named "Future Dial" and cables that fit specific cell phones. The cost is about $70 for both. The software uses your cell phone as a modum and the only additional cost is cell phone minutes. If your cell phone plan is like mine (e.g., free after 9:00 pm and free weekends), it costs nothing. You don't need AOL, Earthlink, or any other internet access program.
The only downfall is the baude rate, which is the about the same as traditional dial-up. It's slow, but it works, plus its free.
