Last weekend, for no apparent reason, my GPS (Raymarine 120) display started reading "No Fix". I tried every simple thing I could think of to no avail. The owner's manual was useless.
An email to the Raymarine factory resulted in a suggestion to remove the antennae and return it to the factory.
Yesterday I scoped out what's involved in the removal. Does anyone know if the cable can be cut and respliced, or do I need to fish the entire cable out intact?
I am thinking that the cable probably should not be cut, but fishing it out looks like a hell of a lot of work. PDQ's excellent wiring techniques involve cable ties with a dozen or so other wires about every 6 inches, each of which has to be cut and then refastened.
GPS - "No Fix"
GPS - no fix
Well, I heard back from Raymarine..... they said (in writing) that it is OK to cut the cable.
I will try that and let you know how it works out.
(Thanks for your response, larry and Sharon).
